The Historical Scopes Trial was held in 1925 in the Rhea County Courthouse which is still in operation and is on the National Historic Landmark Registry. The Scopes Trial Festival and The Tennessee Strawberry Festival are just two of the many other seasonal festivals the community hosts. The Tennessee Valley Theatre and Bryan College provide many opportunities for theatrical and cultural events and concerts.
