Hiking & Walking Trails

Rhea County has hiking trails for all levels. The City of Dayton and the Town of Spring City have scenic, tranquil, and flat walking trails that wind around the shore lines of Lake Chickamauga and Watts Bar Lake. For the more serious hiker, the Pocket Wilderness Trails wind through the mountains, gorges, bluffs and waterfalls of the Cumberland Plateau. These trails are part of the Justin P. Wilson Cumberland Trail State Park, a 300 mile long linear State Park. The Cumberland Trail wanders among the remnants of the Cumberland Mountains that once rose as high as the Rockies.
